Hey Folks.
A few things are happening this week.
1) Wednesday morning at 9:55am the grade 4/5 will have a presentation on swimming safety.
2.) Wednesday 17th Hot Dog lunch. Food & Drink will be provided.
3.) Friday afternoon. June 19th 2009 I am taking the Grade 4s swimming in 4th period. It is $2.00 to get into the pool so could you send money with your child before then or if they have a swim pass that works too I believe.
4.) Riverside Park on the 24th of June. $5.00 needed by the 19th for that day.

The year is getting really close to the end. 7 more days of school!!! Get your homework in pronto those that have not. I need to be able to use this as a part of your assessment.

Wednesday

Hey everyone!! I know it has been more than a few days since my last posting.I was away for a few days. Here are a few things to note.

Science
On Tuesday June 2nd I will be taking the students down to Hanson lake for Science class. We are studying ecosystems and the life cycle. If your son or daughter has a net or insect carrier that will allow them to catch different organisms at the pond please send those with them on tuesday.

Math
We are finishing up the second last unit in math so we will be having a test on monday and continuing on with unit 8 to finish up the school year.

This year is going by so fast and I have enjoyed it a lot.

Hey everyone! It is the start of a new week. We have Survivor challenges starting for the Grade 4-6 classes. Students will be receiving points for certain things that go on in our classroom, like spelling tests, mad minutes, spelling bees, cleanest desks, bravo draws etc. There are only 43 more days of school so it is crunch time.

Hey everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful easter break. I enjoyed mine. It was busy but relaxing.

This Friday April 24th in the afternoon the Grade 4 class will be going to the lodge. We are suppose to dress up 50's style and bring hoola hoops. I am going to bring them from the gym so do not worry about sending hoola hoops from home. We will be doing some research tomorrow during computer class to look up the dress code for that era and see what we can come up with.

Grade 4/5 Homework
-Science questions from Page 174 and question sheet that was handed out are due on Wednesday the 8th of April.
- French- Still working away at our french books. I have made a list that i put on the board of the items that need to be in our workbooks right now. Also if you have not brought pictures of family members to school for french class could you please do so in the next few days.
-French Oral Exam will be on April 20th when we get back from holidays. I will send some form of study sheet to study before that day. I will be saying the different parts of the body out loud in a form of a sentence using numbers and the students have to label the pictures with that number that they think is what i was talking about.

Homework!
Grade 4/5 - For french next day 4 Thursday April 2nd. If you could bring a picture of each or your family members. You can draw them too, but we are going to be putting your family members into your book about you and your family. Ex. A picture of my dad- than i will write underneath in french. A little bit of information on them.
Grade 4- Math test will be on Monday March 30th so tomorrow and friday we will be working on Review.
- Spelling Test Friday March 27th words on Previous posting.
- Book orders due by Friday as well if you would like to order any books.

Parent/student and teacher portfolio interviews will be held on March 31st and April 1st. Students will be showing their parents their portfolios and discussing what they are working on in class.

GRADE 4 - On April 24th students will be going to the lodge in the afternoon to visit. We will be having a 50's party at the lodge. Students will do some research during computer time before this get together and will have to dress up for it.

Up and coming News!!
St. Patrick's Day Party! - We want to celebrate with the kindergarten students next Tuesday and therefore we may have to bring some treats for them and games to play.

Student lead conferences are coming up on the 30th and 31st of March, so please get your forms back in so that i can send them to Mrs. Mohan. First come first serve basis. Students will be practicing at school and will be leading the interview with their parents on those dates. I will be in the room roaming so if you would like to chat with me i will be there as well.

Hey everyone!

For tomorrow: Please bring a jar for our rock candy activity. If you would like your rock candy to be a different color. Food coloring can be brought as well.

Hey everyone! We are slowly getting closer to your week off! I hope you are all excited.

Homework
Science - Those that did not do your presentation on mixtures and/or solutions on Monday will be doing your presentations and write-ups tomorrow Wed. Feb. 11th. Remember to also get a sugar cube from me if you do not have one that you are doing your experiment on for the week.

I hope everyone had a relaxing or eventful weekend.
A few house cleaning items to let everyone in on. If i have missed things i do apologize. Thanks to some of the parents that came out and helped out with brain walk last Friday. I think that the students enjoyed it and the school appreciates your help.

1. Hot dog lunch on Thursday Feb. 12th 2009. Forms were sent home with students and need to be returned tomorrow for the SRC to get their numbers.

2. Tomorrow is backwards day so come wearing your bunny hug with the hood in the front for a change. Even wearing your hair backwards would be great!

Hey everyone!
This week is almost over and next week will soon be upon us. Next week is spirit week. Starting with monday which is P.J day. Wear your favourite pajammas and night cap, wear your morning coat and towel on your head, etc. Make sure that it is school appropriate. That is Monday Feb. 9th.

We are still looking for some volunteers to help us out tomorrow with the Brain Walk. The stations are set up in the gym and parents are given all the information that they will need at their station. Brain walk is tomorrow morning at 10:55am to 2:50pm

1. Students have paired up to do a little presentation for the class on Monday. Students are to come up with a mixture or solution. They must bring it to school and show the rest of the students what they came up with. They must also write a brief description about why they think it is a solution or a mixture and what they did.

Hey everyone! I hope that we are all enjoying the middle of the week just two more days until the weekend. Eston hockey players heading to Moosejaw that are in Grade 4 will be writing their spelling test Friday morning.
There will be no booster juice in the AM Thursday the 22nd or Tuesday the 27th due to students in high school writing finals.
There will also be no bells from the 22nd - 27th because students are writing exams. There will be a bell in the morning and at lunch and after school that is all.

Congratulations to Jason Luong and Austin Bakanec for answering my puzzle island riddle. They get a booster juice from me!!!

Up and coming events

The Yorkton Terriers are staying in town tonight and they are going to be having a practice skate tomorrow morning. They have invited the students to come out and have a skate with them tomorrow at 10:30am. If interested the students need to hand in the form that was sent home with them today. The form needs to be signed, the students MUST have skates and helmet, (gloves, sticks and elbow pads are optional.)

Brain walk is coming up on the 6th of February it starts at 1055am and runs till 2:55pm. If any parents are interested in helping out let me know and i will pass on the word.

Hey everybody. I hope that you all had a blast at the wheelchair clinic today and yesterday. I hope that we all said our thanks to Ryan for coming out. I had a blast myself and fell out of a chair a couple of times. It is definitely a lot harder than one would think. I am glad some of the parents were able to come out and have a wheel around the gym in the chairs as well. If anyone wants to get in touch with SWSA or has some questions i can make sure that you get in contact with the right people.

I handed out a monthly reading log to all the grade 5s' today because they would like to join in for this project we have going on. Keep track of how many minutes you read in a day.

Hey everyone! I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. I am sorry I was not here yesterday. Got snowed in and stayed in Saskatoon an extra day.

- Ryan is here with the SWSA Saskatoon Wheelchair Sports Association and he will be running his clinic tomorrow as well. Grade 4's will be going during their regular phys. ed time and the Grade 5's at 2:40pm. Parents are welcome to come out and watch.
- Brain walk on the 6th of February. Parent volunteers are welcome.

Hi everyone!  I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.  I am excited because it is snowing in Saskatoon more.  That means more skidooing for me.

We have a math test coming up on the 15th of Jan.  So we will be working on unit review and practicing together.

UP AND COMING EVENTS

Make sure that you are all keeping track of your reading minutes on your calendars at home.  15min a day if you can.  Those of you that are working on the reading log contracts.

The more you read the more chances to win.

Just a reminder that the wheelchair basketball clinic is held on Jan 13th-14th during the students scheduled Phys. Ed times.  Grade 4 will be going on the 14th during the regular period and the Grade 5 class will be going later on in the afternoon.  The reason for this is because of the number of chairs available for the students.  Parents are welcome to stop in and have a look.

 

Brainwalk Feb.6th. - Brainwalk will be held on Friday Feb. 6th and I was wondering if  two parents would be interested in helping out.  I will get more information real soon.  Parents just have to be at a table station in the gym.  There are instructions laid out for you and everything.

COMING UP!
Wheel chair basketball. Ryan and his cousin Jules will be coming out to show the students in the school how to use the wheelchairs and how wheel chair basketball is played. It gives the students a bit of awareness on using chairs and about wheel chair sports. January 13th -14th. If parents want to come and check it out they are more than welcome.

Welcome back and happy new year!! I hope that you all had a well deserved break and a great christmas with family and friends. I have started this blog for student, parents and myself to help keep us all on the same page.
